When you open a page, your browser automatically sends technical data, such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser and device type, and the page you came from. This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA), which processes this data to deliver the website and protect it against attacks and misuse.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a secure, working website. Cloudflare acts as our processor under its data processing addendum and may process data in the United States. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. We do not use this data to identify you and do not combine it with other data.
Data stored in your browser
Your settings (currency, language, display), saved and compared lodges, trip plans, recently viewed lodges and drafts of the correction form are kept in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are never sent to us. This storage is strictly necessary for functions you ask for (§ 165(3) Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021), so no consent banner is needed. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Contacting us by email
If you email us, including through the correction form (which opens your own email app and sends nothing by itself), we process your email address, name and message to reply and, for corrections, to check the information. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and keeping listings accurate.
Emails to [email protected] are forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to our mailbox with Microsoft (Outlook.com). We delete them once they are no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep them.
Fonts and images
All fonts and images are served from this website itself. We do not load Google Fonts or other third-party content when you browse.
Links to other websites
Booking buttons and source links take you to other websites, such as Safari.com, lodge websites or SANParks. We do not pass any of your data to them, although they may see that you arrived from safarishortlist.com. Once you are on their site, their privacy policy applies.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data and to have it corrected, deleted or restricted, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 15–18, 20 and 21 GDPR). To use these rights, email [email protected].
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Austria this is the Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.
