Kruger with children
Which lodges take which ages, what children pay, and the rules that catch families out.
Minimum ages on Safari Shortlist
All 26 SANParks rest camps on Safari Shortlist take all ages, and you choose your own drive times.
Game drives have their own age rules
A lodge that accepts all ages may still limit who goes on drives. For example, MalaMala takes all ages but children under 6 can only go out in a private vehicle (listed at R6,350 per seat per day in 2026). At Singita Sweni, families with children under 10 must book a private vehicle, which is free for families of four or more. Walks usually have higher minimum ages, often 12 or 16.
What children pay
Child pricing varies widely. Some lodges charge a percentage of the adult rate, others a fixed amount, and some charge children as adults. Where a lodge publishes its child rate, Safari Shortlist uses it in every total: set your children's ages in the travellers box and prices update.
